It's finally done. The server is now up and should restart every night, just as the DOG 1 and 2 servers. So it should stay there permanently and not crash as it did last time.

It's not completely finished yet, also the configs might need a little tweaking, but we'll see. Post here if you find something...

Grumpy (for running The DOG, doing the restart and log scripts and fixing some issues)
brezi (general help, especially with stupid linux commands)

Okay, the first bad news so far is that I didn't find out yet how to actually have a Freeze Tag TDM game :P It seemed more like FT FFA when we tried it now.

Also, there seems to be a newer version of CPMA... I'll look into these issues.

Much faster than autodownloading...

Some tips:

cg_EnemyModel keel/pm (green Keel enemymodel)
cg_altlightning 0 (if you want the normal lightning back)
there's more but I first have to get my old cpma config back.
Edit: you can set a lot of these things in the menu setup>player. Quite convenient.

/maplist to see the list of votable maps
For 6++, don't type /callvote map 6++. It will load the 6th map on the list instead (which is psidm7 currently). Type the number of the map on the list instead (6++ is number 40).

Although I really like CPM gameplay (physics, instant weapon switch, etc.) we could also play with other gameplay settings that will be more familiar for most:

/callvote gameplay CQ3 (VQ3 with some tweaks to make it more oriented towards experienced players)
Good old VQ3 is also a gameplay option.

The inactivity kick time is much too short at the moment and needs a tweak. I was simply trying something in the console and got kicked in the meantime.

Are you sure you didn't just get confused because the skins are not red/blue by default? I think that must be it because I'm pretty sure CPMA doesn't have a FFA FT mode. Team damage probably is enabled by default too.

You should go spec if you mess with the console for more than a minute.

The problem is that the time is too short and too long at once. It's too short if you're on there and need to configure things. It's too long if a player is idle, but gets frozen and thawed all the time. In my experience, chances are like 50 / 50 that an idle player really gets kicked on a full server with a 1 minute inactivity time.

Yes, I figured this one out already... FF was enabled and I couldn't tell who is in which team. Confusing when the enemy is a green Keel and your teammate is a red / blue Xaero :)

The vote menu doesn't work for me, don't know if it does for you (Game settings in the menu). However, everything you can do in that menu can also be done in the console.

Since I'm also kinda new to CPMA, I'll have to sort out some stuff for myself too :D Gotta get rid of the Mynx head, which means to extract a file from the .pk3 file.... It's a bit complicated compared to the original Q3.

I'll start a topic which will cover how to configure the CPMA client side, because some things aren't really obvious... Maybe someone is faster and does a neat list too, the CPMA Wiki seems to be down at the moment.

I'm also not sure yet about some settings. For example, start with MG only? Or same weapons as on DOG 1? Should there be a map rotation? Same as DOG 1, different?

I think the first thing is to set enemyskin and then teamcolors and teammodel if you want that. Then it will make much more sense.

I also wondered about the mynx head... :)
Configuring CPMA used to be simpler, but then they added a lot of HUD customizing options. I wasn't so happy with that. ;)

please take care of the server names.
it's bad enough that there is that silly cpma-server, but why call it dog 1 too ? and the spam on the one and only real ft-server (dog 1) is even worse

dog 2 is a waste of bandwith

Yes, empty servers use up all the bandwidth, because of the traffic to.... I mean received by...... no wait, I don't get it.

The name was dog 3 yesterday. I remember because i adapted the dog monitor yesterday.
But the name is dog 1 now, maybe some error in the auto-start procedure?

Must be something with the restarting indeed. Not only is the name DOG 1, but it's also a baseq3 freeze server..... Like a clone of DOG 1 :|

Some settings still need some changes, but I first wanna see the result of wednesday before I mess with the configs.

I suggest settings:

-Startup weapons same as other dogs.
-Weaponspawn time lot lower, 5 seconds.
-Quad of by default :twisted:
